Hoop House Intern Contract

Congratulations on being selected as a Hoop House Intern for the 2023-2024 academic year! This position is funded through the Environmental Stewardship Center and the Center for Civic Engagement and reports to Amy Newday.

In order to accept this position, you’ll need to commit to the following:

Fall orientation/training will occur on Friday September, 8th and Saturday, September 9th. The Hoop House Orientation Tour will occur on Sunday, September 10th.

Notes about training:

  • Training will occur before classes begin on September 8th and 9th, 2023
  • Lunches will be provided
  • Daily schedules will be sent out in mid-August
  • Compensation for training will be equivalent to 7 hours, lunches provided and a nationally recognized First Aid/CPR certification.
  • If you are living on campus, an early move-in can be arranged.

Work expectations:

  • Work 5-7 hours per week, depending on projects, needs and season
    • Monday 11am HH Leadership Meeting: 1 hour
    • Monday drop in hours: 1.5 hours
    • Wednesday or Friday drop in hours: 1.5 hours
    • Communication & planning: 1 hour
    • Flex hours (events, check ins, etc): 0-2 hours
  • Attend weekly Hoop House Leadership meetings on Mondays at 11am in Dewing004
  • Attend weekly Hoop House drop in hours/hands on meeting on Mondays from 4:30-6pm
  • Host at least one Hoop House drop in hours on either Wednesdays or Fridays from 4:30-6pm
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Hoop House and garden spaces on campus
  • Collaborate with student organizations and departments to increase student engagement with the Hoop House
