Title: The State of the Butterflies
Ashley Cole-Wick

Ashley Cole-Wick will discuss her work at Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI), our state’s natural heritage organization. She will share what she and others are doing to protect Michigan’s rare species, like the Karner blue and Mitchell’s satyr butterflies. Ashley will share what young professionals can do to help protect rare species/the environment as they embark on their careers. In her time with MNFI, Ashley has worked towards recovery of the Mitchell’s satyr and Karner blue butterflies in Michigan and beyond. She has also conducted rare species and ecological inventories on tribal lands, and has conducted surveys for aquatic plants, small mammals, land snails, freshwater mussels, aquatic snails, and various insect species.

SIP Presentations

Join us on Wednesday, April 24th at 7pm to celebrate Kalamazoo College seniors presenting their Senior Integrated Projects (SIPs) related to the environment or sustainability. The SIPs come from various academic departments: Environmental Studies, Critical Ethnic Studies, Biology and beyond.
